12OZ Roasted Frozen Broccoli Recipe

12OZ Roasted Frozen Broccoli Recipe

Roasted frozen broccoli might sound simple, but believe me, it can transform the way your family views those green florets. Tossing frozen broccoli straight into a hot oven allows those flavors to deepen and develop a pleasing caramelization that few other cooking methods can achieve.

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • - 1/2 lb. frozen broccoli florets
  • - 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • - 1/2 Tbsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • - 1 clove garlic minced
  • - 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • First off, you’ll need to preheat your oven to 400ºF. This temperature is perfect for roasting vegetables and allows them to caramelize properly.

Step 2: Prepare the Baking Sheet

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This not only helps with cleanup but also prevents the broccoli from sticking to the pan.

Step 3: Spread the Frozen Broccoli

  • Next, take your frozen broccoli florets and spread them evenly across the baking sheet. No need to thaw them; just toss them directly onto the prepared sheet.

Step 4: Drizzle the Olive Oil

  • Now it’s time to drizzle the olive oil over the broccoli. Make sure to use high-quality extra virgin olive oil for the best flavor.

Step 5: Season Generously

  • Sprinkle the Montreal steak seasoning evenly over the florets. Then, add the minced garlic and a splash of lemon juice for that extra zing.

Step 6: Toss to Coat

  • Using either a spatula or your hands, gently toss the broccoli to ensure that each floret is covered in oil and seasoning. Don’t stress about some falling onto the parchment paper; it will get stirred later.

Step 7: Roast the Broccoli

  • Transfer your baking sheet to the preheated oven and roast for 20 minutes. This initial roasting time allows the broccoli to begin cooking and developing those beautiful crispy edges.

Step 8: Stir and Roast Again

  • After 20 minutes, carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Use a spatula to stir the broccoli around. This helps to redistribute the oil and seasoning for even cooking.

Step 9: Finish Roasting

  • Pop the baking sheet back into the oven for another 10 minutes or until the broccoli is cooked to your liking. The goal is to achieve a nice golden color on the edges, but you can adjust the timing based on your preference.

Step 10: Serve Hot

  • Once done, remove the broccoli from the oven and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Serve it hot, right out of the oven, as a delightful side.

Notes

- Don’t Overcrowd: Make sure not to crowd the baking sheet; if needed, use two sheets for even roasting.
- Storage: Leftover roasted broccoli can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
- Frozen is Fine: No need for fresh broccoli; frozen works perfectly and is convenient.
- Spice it Up: Feel free to add crushed red pepper flakes for a kick!
- Experiment: Try mixing in other veggies like carrots or peppers for a medley.
