Equipment

  • glasses

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces chilled sparkling wine Prosecco, or champagne
  • 4 ounces fresh apple juice
  • 2 ounces dark rum or spiced rum
  • Optional: Thinly sliced apple wedges for garnish
  • For Rimmed Glasses:
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Splash of apple cider

Instructions

  • First, let’s make your glasses a little more festive.
  • Mix the cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg in a small dish.
  • Moisten the rim of each glass with a splash of apple cider.
  • Dip the glass rim into the sugar mixture, ensuring it coats the edges nicely. Set the glasses aside.
  • Now, it’s time to combine the goodness!
  • In a large pitcher, pour the fresh apple juice or cider and the dark rum.
  • Gently add the chilled sparkling wine. Pour slowly to avoid excessive fizz.
  • Stir lightly to combine all the ingredients, ensuring the mixture remains bubbly.
  • Pour the mixture into your prepared glasses.
  • For a beautiful presentation, float thinly sliced apple wedges on top of the drink. This not only looks fantastic but adds a hint of apple flavor.

Notes

  • Quality Ingredients Matter: Choose fresh apple juice; the better the juice, the better the mimosa.
  • Chill Everything: Make sure your sparkling wine and apple juice are well-chilled before mixing. No one enjoys a lukewarm drink!
  • Experiment with Ratios: Don’t hesitate to play with the proportion of juice to sparkling wine. Some prefer a sweeter drink, while others like it more bubbly.
  • Add Spice: For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of cinnamon directly into the drink or even infusing the juice with spices beforehand.
  • Use Festive Glassware: Serve in elegant, fun, or thematic glassware to enhance the brunch experience.
