Step 1: Preheat Your Oven

  • Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). This will help the asparagus cook evenly, making that char happen.

Step 2: Prepare the Asparagus

  • Take your bunch of asparagus and rinse them under cold water. Next, trim off the tough ends. How do you know where to cut? Just bend one spear—where it snaps naturally is where you should cut the rest.

Step 3: Drizzle and Season

  • Now, place your asparagus on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle extra-virgin olive oil over them. Use your hands to toss the asparagus around so they’re evenly coated. Then, sprinkle on those flaky sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

  • Slide the baking sheet into the preheated oven. Roast for about 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your spears. You want them tender with a little char.
