Start by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. This will ensure even distribution of the salt in your dough.
Now, melt your butter and mix it with warm milk. Blend this mixture with the frothy yeast. Pour this into the bowl containing the flour. Stir until it forms a shaggy dough.
Scrape the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl. Cover with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
While the dough rises, combine the brown sugar, caster sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangular shape.
Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top. Drizzle with maple syrup for additional flavor.
Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seams to seal.
Place the log seam-side down in a greased loaf pan. Loosely cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. It should sound hollow when tapped.
Once baked, take it out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
